La Trobe

Dr. Berkowitz obtained his MSc (by research) from the Ruhr-University in Bochum and his doctorate in 2003 from the IPK Gatersleben and Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (Germany) working on sulfur assimilation in plants. He conducted postdoctoral research on a range of topics including root and bud development, nutrient metabolism and defence responses at the Australian National University (Canberra) and The University of Western Australia (Perth). He was a research fellow in the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology and since 2019 he is part of the ARC Research Hub in Medicinal Agriculture. His research focusses on the application of next-generation sequencing and phenotyping technologies to understand plant responses to their environment.
