Report commissioned for Health Workforce Australia.
The aim of this research was to discover the elements of a quality clinical placement for paramedicine students. In this research, we have found that a quality paramedicine student clinical placement is influenced by a range of factors including the expectations of both the student and the clinical instructor about the purpose of the placement; the communication pathways and networks that are established between the university, ambulance services, clinical instructors and paramedicine students; and the organisational culture towards students and clinical placements. Our focus was on those clinical placements that are offered to paramedicine students in Australian and New Zealand ambulance services.
