The Victorian government’s river management policies are based on the idea that stream condition supports key values and that these values are compromised by threats. This discussion paper reviews and considers which threats impact Victorian aquatic riverine vertebrate fauna, the availability of data to represent these threats spatially and temporally, and the strength of relationships between known threats and population responses by aquatic vertebrates.
