Final Report on the Research Outcomes of a Positive Psychology Approach to Support Teacher Wellbeing and Teachers’ Work with Students Displaying Behaviours of Concern in Regional Victoria

This report, the result of a significant research partnership with La Trobe University, shines a light on the wellbeing of our teachers and the impact of positive psychology strategies in supporting their professional and personal growth. Nearly 600 educators participated in this study, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the teaching community. The findings are both affirming and challenging: when teachers consciously apply strategies such as finding meaning in work, building micro-connections, using strengths and values, and reflecting on what went well, they experience measurable improvements in wellbeing, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction. These gains are not just numbers—they represent renewed purpose, stronger relationships, and a more positive climate for both staff and students.
