Project Number: Dam operation and stream invertebrates - M/03/5083; LWRRDC Project 86/37.
MDFRC item.
Studies of the invertebrate fauna of the Mitta Mitta river before impoundment (Smith et al. 1978) and during and after the construction of the dam (Blyth et al. 1984, Doeg 1984) provide a valuable basis for comparison. The present study uses field sites which relate to the previous study and also incorporates a site on the Upper Murray (unregulated) as an additional control. Laboratory studies on the influence of temperature on egg development and growth rates of field populations are also included. Publications associated with project see (Brittain, J.E. (1991) The effect of temperature on egg development in the Australian stonefly genus, Austrocercella Illies (Plecoptera: Notonemouridae).
