GRDC National Phenology Initiative field experiment data
The GRDC National Phenology Initiative aimed to deliver accurate cultivar- and environment-specific estimations of wheat and barley phenology to grain growers and their advisers. It achieved this by improving and validating the APSIM Next Gen phenology routine and allowing cultivars to be parameterised using controlled environment phenotypic data, genotypic data or a combination of the two. Simulations were validated against field data for a wide range of phenology phenotypes at diverse locations across the Australian wheat belt. Here we provide the complete field validation dataset collected at four sites (WA, VIC, NSW, SA) over two years (2019 and 2020) and eight times of sowing (1 March to 15 June) in 96 cultivars (64 wheat and 32 barley).
