An Overview of Sustainable Development Goal 7

<p dir="ltr">In this chapter, the authors review how Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) aligns with the business of sport and how sport organizations have engaged their communities in promoting SDG 7. They also discuss how sport organizations can adhere to the SDG in their daily operations, and how sport organizations have engaged their communities in promoting SDG 7. The authors propose the most effective way to evaluate, engage, and encourage the sport industry's contribution to SDG 7 is through a systems approach to match the complexity of the access, advancement, and distribution of equitable clean energy, research, and technology. Practitioners and scholars are provided with insights into the evolving practice of sport management as it pertains to SDG 7. While not all of the steps taken by sport organizations begin with a desire to realize the aims of SDG 7, they do show how sport organizations can align their renewable energy efforts with the UN's stated aim of achieving a “better and more sustainable future for all.” This section demonstrates sport's capacity to contribute to wider global efforts to achieve affordable, reliable, and accessible energy.</p>
